Episode Transcript

Should we bring in our recruiter of the week? We should. Let’s bring in Drew. Hi Drew! Welcome to the show. Hi, both of you.

Thanks for having me. How are ya? I’m good. I’m just, you know, staying busy, staying busy. Always staying busy. Drew crushes the game. You are a hustler. Before we start everything, will you introduce yourself? Who are you? I know I just kind of gave a little bit of an intro, but who are you and what do you do at Hirewell? My name is Drew.

I’m a recruiter at Hirewell on the sales practice team. So I actually- yeah, with Em. And I started out actually my career in sales and then moved to sales recruiting. Nice transition. But about me, traveling a lot. So currently in Seattle, so that location is changing all the time.

We’ll ask a little bit in our line of questioning about your mode of transportation and all of that jazz, but we’re really excited to have you. We’re going to play our rapid fire questions game with Drew. If you’re joining for the first time, we’re going to put two minutes on the clock. Drew,

you have those two minutes to answer as many questions as you can quickly, but of course thoughtfully. The final 30 seconds will be our lightning round. Are you ready for this? Uh, yes. But very nervous for this. Everyone says that and then they’re totally fine after it. We don’t bite…hard. Okay, Ryan, we’ll ask your first question in 3, 2, 1.

Go! Drew, what’s your favorite thing about working at Hirewell? The culture is amazing. I never felt more supported at a company. You know how oftentimes companies can be discouraging or whatnot, but more supportive, very nonjudgmental or holistic help, is awesome there too. I feel like everyone has a voice here, so. Such a good answer.

States have you visited slash lived in, in the past two years? I stayed in, in the past two years… 42. And what is your mode of transportation? A van. It’s an old sprinter van. It’s a Dodge sprinter van. So it’s extended too but it’s pretty big. So we often have struggles parking places, making sure there’s no garages or whatnot, but yeah.

42 states. In the comments we want you to list them all. Right. Taking advantage of our remote work life here. Totally different subject aside from where you’re living and all those states, what’s one song that will always get you on the dance floor? Oh man. That’s a tough one. I was recently jamming out to, what’s her name? Donna Lewis.

Oh yeah. It’s that one, one hit wonder. I, for the life of me, obviously it’s like tip of the tongue, but it’s escaping me right now. Are you looking it up Emily? Yeah no, I totally am. It’s fine. I’m going to like- I’m going to find it later and play it. I love you always forever and near and far together, everywhere I will be there- okay I’m finished.

But as far as like going and doing like a karaoke, maybe the doors, because he doesn’t like reach any like high notes. Yeah, I feel that. That was a hard question. What’s the most used app on your phone? Gosh, recruiter. LinkedIn recruiter? Oh my god, that’s so lame. That’s not what it should be. What’s your favorite way to spend a day off from work?

Hiking. We go hiking like every weekend. Around Seattle there’s a ton of spots too. So it’s a good place to be right now. Okay. I know we geared off of this, but I am curious. Do you have like a favorite city or state that you’ve visited in the past couple years? Yeah, it’s really tough. As far as like most beautiful state, I would say Montana has my favorite national park glacier.

But city, I really loved Portland, Maine. Not a lot of people go all the way over there. But I love it. And they have like an absurd amount of like breweries per capita. That’s an important measurement- breweries for capita. Are you ready for your lightning round? Yes. All right, hit it Ryan. Glass half empty or half full? Half full. Ice cream or sorbet? Ice cream. Big groups or small gatherings? Small gatherings. Toilet paper over or under? Over.

I looked this up recently and there’s- it’s technical way to do it. On the right path. Would you consider yourself an introvert or extrovert? Introvert, but an extroverted introvert. Fair. Money or love? Love. Do you watch Love Island? That’s a whole other topic.

We should have asked your guilty pleasure. Aliens. Are they real or not? They’re real, but I’m scared to know more. So I refuse to look them up. Okay. Cups in the cupboard right side up or upside down? Depends where you’re at. If you have a nice bottom then down, if it has a solid top, then it can be up.

Okay. Sure, sure. Meat or veggies? Oh, well I’m a vegetarian, so I’ll have to go with veggies. Instagram or Facebook? I’m really not very on social. So can I just say LinkedIn? Oh, you’re just pulling up our game. One more, Ryan. Go for it. Last one. Are you messy or tidy? Ooh, good one.

Oh, that is a good one. It depends on the area. Oh come one Drew. Answer it. No, it depends on the area. The bathrrom needs to be clean, but then bedroom, like my clothes are over the place. So maybe messy. All right Drew, next show we’re going to talk about lightning. And like that. Yeah. Yeah, no, you did great in general. Very thoughtful answers.

Lightening round speed was like a B minus, but you did great. Hey, there’s always room for improvement. Okay.

We loved having you on the show. So nice to learn more about you. I mean, hopefully next time you’re on, you’ve hit all 50 states. I don’t know if that’s possible in your van, but hopefully by then you’ll have probably not. Going to say no for, yeah. I’m going to say let’s not drive to Hawaii and in your van.

Just a thought. I’ll keep you posted on the travels though. So keep us posted. Drew, we love ya. Thanks for having me! Bye Drew. Double wave… I’m so extra.
