We have a fun show. We- I always, I think it’s nice we’ve got our usual recruiter of the week, and it’s a newer face. Kind of balanced out with our talent insights, which is a very familiar face.
So what do you say we get to it? Well, let’s get to it. We’re going to kick things off with the recruiter of the week, and this week we have Skylar. So let’s bring her in. Hey Skylar, welcome to the show! Hey ladies, good morning. How are you? We’re good. Good morning to you. Where in the world are you, Skylar?
So physically I’m in Detroit, Michigan right now. But mentally? I’m just kidding. I live in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I’ve been in Detroit the past two months. My boyfriend lives here, so commute between the two back and forth working remote. I mean, the joys of remote work life, right? You get the opportunity to do what you’re doing.
We love it. Yeah, definitely. I mean, I wish it was a little bit more cooler places, not like Detroit, Milwaukee, but it’s fine. Hey, Detriot- there’s nothing wrong with the Midwest. Yeah. Detroit’s got its- I mean, yes. I do love Michigan, so I love it. Now we know where you are. So tell us who you are. What do you do at Hirewell? How long have you been here? Give us a little brief background. Yeah, for sure. So my name’s Skylar. I’m on the tech team here at Hirewell. I’m a technical recruiter. I’ve been here for just over a year. I think it’s like a year and a couple weeks at this point. Time really flies when you’re having fun.
But yeah, I’m super new to recruiting. This is like my first year into recruiting and it’s been great so far. We love it. I have to say, and this is like a weird comment to make, but you just, your activities are always really impressive. Like we have, just for those watching, we’ve got like a system that kind of- we’re not like crazy. It’s not like a boiler room type of environment here but we like to track things and it’s helpful and I’m always just so impressed.
I’m always like oh my god, Skylar is all over everything, adding notes and so nice job there. I’m always like, just trying to catch up with you. You’re crushing it. Setting the bar high, that’s for sure. Yeah, that’s what I like to do, right. Well we’re excited to have you, We are going to play our rapid fire questions game next.
We’ll put two minutes on the clock and you’ll have those two minutes to answer as many questions as you can quickly, but of course, thoughtfully. But remember it is rapid, so it is go, go, go. The last 30 seconds will be our lightning round. You have to choose either one or the other. No gray area. It’s the hardest part.
So yeah. We’ve got this. Are you ready? Ready as I’ll ever be. Awesome. Ryan will ask your first question in 3, 2, 1, go. Skylar, what’s your favorite thing about working at Hirewell? My favorite thing is being able to like work collaboratively with so many different teams. I think again, like being so new in my career, it’s important to have like different people to look up to.
And I definitely feel like there’s plenty of people who can help guide me and help me develop as a recruiter. I love that. Great answer. Such a good answer. What’s your favorite holiday? Christmas. Any favorite traditions? Oh, Ryan, really? Just kidding. I wonder why I’m a little biased. It might be a Christmas baby, but why Christmas?
No, I don’t- I’m trying to think. We watch Elf every year, every Friday after Thanksgiving. I love that. It’s like going into Christmas, but yeah. That’s such a fun tradition. We love that movie. Yeah, so good. Do you have any guilty pleasures, and if so, what are they? I would say reality TV is my guilty pleasure. We have to know- any reality TV I love anything, whether it’s- what’s your go-to? Or like Vanderpump Rules or things like that. Do you watch Love Island? That type of reality? I do. Yes. Yes, of course. Yeah. We’ve had a few Love Islanders on the show for sure. Yeah. What’s a hidden talent that you have? A hidden talent. There’s have got be something. I can’t think of anything right after- oh, I can gleek on demand. Oh my God. I can do that. Ok. Yeah. I guess I- yes. We will not request you to do that.
We’ll just take your word for it. It’s not very Covid friendly. Yeah. Not very Covidd friendly, for sure. Speaking of Covid though, like way back when Covid first hit, did you have any like quarantine activities? What were they? I got into reading, actually when Covid started. I used to hate reading. This is so embarrassing, but I like never fully finished a book probably until Covid. Like I would always leave
a last chapter or like a couple pages. And then I got into TikTok and then like Colleen Hoover and like all her books. And then I got- I got into reading. I feel like she just came out with a new book, right? Just started it probably like today actually. Well, I’m sure you’ll be done with it by the end of the week.
Right? We will want a- we’ll want a full book report. Yeah. Alright, lightning round. Are you ready? Yes, I am. All right. Sweet or savory? Savory. Winter or summer? Summer. Big groups or small gatherings? Small gatherings. Deep dish or Detroit style? Deep dish. Oh. Call or text? Call. Fries or tots? Fries. Plans or surprise? Plans.
Vacation or staycation? Vacation. Pizza or burger? Burgers. Bad haircut or bad hair color? Cut. And my favorite question, crunchy or smooth peanut butter? Like why do I love that one? You love it Em. I’m going to go with smooth. You heard it. Half the time people are like, I don’t like nut butters. And Em and I have like a meltdown about it.
Yeah. Two total meltdowns. Nut butters our. Yeah. You are really good at lightning rounds. Very good. I’m glad. We’re going to have to gray area out before. Yeah. No, we’re going to have to edit your segment and send it to our like future guests to be like, “Hey, this is how you do- this is what you’re supposed to do.”
Yes. You’re setting the bar high activity wise on the Hirewell update. I mean, Skylar’s crushing it. Well thank you for joining us bright and early today. We hope you have a good rest of your day. Yeah, stay warm out there in Detroit. Thanks for having me! Have a good day. Bye.
