Best all-hands meetings you’ll ever do
Sales down? Employees are bummed out? Here’s a way to hit the trifecta: employee recognition, sales training, and revenue generation:
👉Identify 4-5 team members who recently landed or grew a large account.
Different levels of experience. Not just your top performers.
👉At your next all-hands, set up an internal panel discussion.
You moderate it. 20-30 minutes. Long enough for everyone to get a few takeaways they’ll remember. Short enough to keep everyone’s interest.
👉Introduce those team members to publicly recognize their achievement.
Then have them give a :60 second overview of how they did it.
👉Have a Q&A with the crowd.
Allow everyone to ask more specific questions. (Pro Tip: get people talking by asking the crowd to raise their hand if they’ve done something similar, then call on someone and ask them to elaborate as well.)
👉Watch the magic happen.
We did this last Fall when it was clear how the market was winding down. My thinking went from a nervous “I hope this goes well” to “holy sh*t I can’t believe we didn’t do this years ago.”
Everyone loved it. Some of the panelists on the account management side didn’t think of themselves as “sellers” then realized they’re great at it. The audience got to hear from their peers (not just management) tactics that actually work. Everyone got to see how good some of their peers are and how they work at that level, too.
Lots of takeaways. And we rolled it into a recurring group brainstorm meeting where people can share ideas. Add cross team collaboration to that mix.
Last week I was quoted on the concept in this Forbes article, “Employee Recognition Ideas For 2023” but thought a real world example would be more impactful.
