Hey everyone, welcome back to another week of Recruiting Reality, the show where we pair up hot topics in the entertainment industry with some helpful recruiting tips. Last week we were talking about Hallmark movies, and Liz and I were still a little bit nostalgic. We’re talking about Frosty the Snowman and Jack Frost, and it got us thinking about how roles this time of year start to be frozen or move to the new year, with starts in the new year.
So we’ve had a couple of candidate experiences. Liz, do you want to share first? Yeah, absolutely. Anything that can tie in Frosty the snowman. I mean, I love that we went there because yes, Recruiting Reality, we went there, but this is it. This is that time. Budgets are kind of being closed out.
They don’t want to bring anyone on. And, I know it’s a bit of a bummer. I have a friend right now who’s been very proactively applying to jobs and in a span of a week, he’s already received three emails stating, thanks for your application. We’ve put this role on hold or reach back out to you in the new year.
So, you know, it definitely is a normal time for this to be happening. I don’t think it’s a sign of the market trending downward. It’s just we’re in the holiday season. People are out on vacations. It’s harder to interview. So it’s definitely something that I’m seeing on my end. I know you mentioned you had some experience with it as well.
Yeah, I just spoke with a candidate this morning, and some of our clients, even they’re saying we’re not putting this role on hold. We’re not freezing the role. But we’re not going to have a start until January, just because with the holiday season coming up. We have so much of the management team being out of office, the teams are shifting, we have lots of breaks, especially teams who get that full week between Christmas and New Year’s off. And they just want a cleaner start, fresh in the New Year. And a lot of candidates are also respecting that as well right now, as the holiday seasons come up crazy. Just makes me even more excited for this New Year to begin. Exactly. 2024, we are ready for you. Our year.
