UPDATE: $1.6M Raised by the Chicago Tech Community During Techweek 2017

Authors:

We had a blast participating in Techweek Chicago’s Techweek Gives campaign, a giving campaign that brought together Chicago’s top tech companies to donate time and money to S.T.E.A.M. and local nonprofits. The goal was $1M, but over the course of 90 days, 37 tech companies raised $1.6 million dollars and volunteered over 11,000 hours!

It was an intense competition with 22 different companies at the top of the leaderboard over the course of 12 weeks. We were judged on a “per employee average” when giving money, time and goods to their favorite nonprofits.

Each participant was able to choose what cause they wanted to support. Seventy-five percent of the money raised and time spent during the Techweek Gives campaign benefited Chicago-area students.

One of our longest-standing clients, kCura, was the winner of Techweek Gives. Helping to explain the astounding $160,000 raised by kCura alone, Collen Smith, kCura’s Community Engagement Specialist said, “It’s not a choice to give back; it’s a duty to our hometown.”

Hirewell was proud to join the leaders of the Chicago tech community in this exciting giving campaign. Congrats to all the winners!
