As the holidays approach, one of Liz and Shania’s favorite pastimes is to watch a classic Hallmark movie. Hallmark movies are known for their predictability. It’s comforting to have some predictability, especially when working as a recruiter in such a volatile market. Tune in to this week’s episode of Recruiting Reality as the Holiday Season approaches.

Episode Transcript

Hey everyone, welcome back to another week of Recruiting Reality, the show where we pair up hot topics in the entertainment industry with some helpful recruiting tips. And now we’re past Thanksgiving, we are entering December, and that means it’s officially Hallmark movie season. I’m personally a huge fan, I love them all, but what about you Liz?

I mean, how could you not? How could you not love just watching a movie that you know is going to end with everyone in love, everyone is happy. And I think, I’m sure for both of us, like, we love it because it’s so predictable. And it’s basically the opposite of kind of everything that we do.

So our connection today, everyone, is the predictability of Hallmark movies and correlating that to the unpredictability of this market, recruiting, I mean, all of it. But specifically the market. I think you and I have talked a lot about through the span of this show and even before, just how up and down this year alone, has been. It’s, I think, shifted from being a candidate’s market to an employer’s market.

But I mean, what do you think? I totally agree. And I’m a hundred percent on the fact that I love them because they’re so predictable. Like I don’t have to worry. And I know a lot of people don’t like them for that same reason. I’m like, it’s so comforting to me. I know exactly what’s going to happen.

Work has just been so up and down. Like you said, candidate market, employer market, we’ve seen so many highs and lows just throughout this year alone, let alone since 2020. And right now I feel like we are, like next year, I have really high hopes for it. I know a lot of people at Hirewell, and in the industry did also. Feel like we’re going to see an upward trend in jobs available, candidates clicking off that open to work filter, and getting new goals. So I’m super hopeful going into the new year and hoping it’s a little bit more predictable than this past year.

A hundred percent. I think we’re on the right track. I also see it trending in the right direction. And I think, if you all take anything from this video of ours, put on a Hallmark movie tonight and revel in that predictability. And stay tuned to see what’s next for Recruiting Reality.
