Episode Transcript

Welcome to another week of Recruiting Reality, where we pair up hot topics in the entertainment industry with some helpful recruiting tips. So this last season of The Bachelorette just ended. Charity had an awesome season, but honestly, I feel like the drama was not as bad as it has been in other seasons.

I feel like normally we have a couple of big scandals where they’re trying to hide something about what happened at home or something about their past that always ends up getting brought up in the end. A hundred percent. It’s interesting the connection between the importance of being transparent in a show like The Bachelor, the Bachelorette, and transparency with your recruiter through the entire process.

Whether that’s “I am in final stages for another interview through something I found on my own or through another firm” or “I have a vacation planned in three weeks”. All these little things that seem like, why do I have to tell my recruiter this really allow us to be able to advocate for you so we don’t get to end stages of the interview process and suddenly this news is revealed

that could be “scandalous”. Yeah, exactly. I feel like for me, the number one thing is they don’t want to tell me about other opportunities that they have going on. But we are their advocate and at the end of the day, you want what’s best for the candidate. So if you have three options in front of you, I’m going to do my best to fight for you and make sure that your opportunity with my client is going to be able to match or exceed your current other opportunities.

Right, exactly. You’re so right when you say that because I’ve asked candidates before, like what other irons do you have in the fire? Where are you with other stages? And they’re kind of like, “Well, why do you want to know?” and it’s like, well, so if I know, it allows me to tell my client you have to move quickly.

Shania’s got an interview at ABC company that’s it’s a final next week and it really prepares us to the words you used so beautifully to advocate for our candidates. So transparency is key, both in recruiting and in reality tv. Yeah. Yes, of course. So stay tuned next week for another hot tip.
