Welcome to Recruiting Reality, the show where we pair up hot topics in the entertainment industry with some helpful recruiting tips. And this week is a big one because it is the season premiere of season five of Love is Blind. So excited. It actually filmed in Houston. So shout out to HTX where I am based.
If you haven’t seen Love is Blind, definitely recommend it. It’s on Netflix. It’s essentially a social experiment where 10 men and women are put together in blind dating pods where they cannot see each other. Shania equates it to speed dating, which I love, and have to build connections with others without ever getting to see them face to face.
So our recruiting tie in for you is building connections with recruiters when you receive an in mail and the way that you do that is starting by accepting that InMail. So we’re going to talk about a couple reasons why it’s a really good idea to accept an in mail even if you are not an active job seeker.
So I’ll share a couple, and then I’ll pass it over to Shania to share a couple. So essentially you want to open up that bridge. You want to open up the connection. Yes, you may not be actively looking now, but if you are even passively thinking you might look down the line, go ahead and build that connection with that recruiter.
Let them know what you’re looking for. Set some parameters so that they can essentially be an additional resource for you in your job search. What are your thoughts, Shania? Yeah, I’m I come from the park where like building your network is never going to be a hindrance to you in the future. It’s only going to be able to add more additional resources down the line.
Like, you never know what’s going to happen, especially in our current job climate where there’s layoffs left and right and people are becoming really surprised at their current stance of job seeking or job hunting. And so just accepting the InMail, you don’t have to accept it and say like, “Oh yes, please show me this” just, “Hey, I’m not looking right now, but I would appreciate if we kept in touch” or, “Hey, I have this person in my network, do you want me to connect you two?”
It just provides like a nice base for future conversations for years and years down the line. If you remember, “Hey, that one recruiter reached out to me,” especially agency recruiters, as we work with multiple different clients across multiple different roles. And at Hirewell, we work across like all different functions.
So we have HR, marketing, sales, real estate, tech, finance, so many different sectors that you can find a role in. Accepting the InMail is always a great, great point to at least start off with. Exactly, exactly. To piggyback on keeping up with the referrals. If you have a friend that you want to refer, just paying it forward.
And I mean, at the end of the day, it does not hurt to have an extra set of eyes and ears seeing what’s on the job market, so that we can kind of keep you posted. We’re a free service. We’re here to advocate and represent. So, you know, build those connections, tune in to the newest episode of Love is Blind.
Let us know what you think. And if there are any recruiting or entertainment topics that you’d like for us to cover. Yeah, we’ll definitely have to do a debrief on how the season premiere goes. Can’t wait. See you guys next week.
